Make A Wish Candidate Wishes For Others

I was reading the print edition of the Houston Chronicle this morning.  On the front page was a story I had to share here.

A local teenager who was diagnosed with cancer in 2006 wants to donate her "wish" from the Make-A-Wish Foundation so that an orphanage that would care for children with HIV can be built in the African nation of Zambia.

Kristin said the possibility of her own death hadn’t really sunk in for her, but the grim fate for these children did.

She asked if she could use her wish for them, to leave an orphanage as her legacy. Cancer-free today and headed to college in the fall, Kristin — with seed money from Make-A-Wish — plans to see that legacy fulfilled.

You can read the heartwarming story at the Houston Chronicle.
