Just A Few More Days

With only a few more days left here at the family cottage in Minnesota, I am trying to enjoy my time here as much as I can.

There’s not much excitement going on here.  This is a vacation to get away from the city and enjoy the peace and quiet.  Fishing is usually a big activity here but only the hardcore anglers have made it out for the start of the season.  I’m content just to enjoy the views of the lake and taking walks over to the other side.

As you have noticed, I’ve been out with my camera taking pictures of small woodland creatures as well as lake scenes.  The more I use it, the more I see the need for a longer lens.  I also learned a valuable lesson last night.  When you are using a tripod for the first time, be sure to learn how everything works before you need it, or else you will waste time and possibly lose your opportunity for a shot.  That said, I took well over a hundred exposures of sunset scenes, none of which I am too happy about.  That’s the beauty of digital photography - no expense for film or developing.

Here are a couple of the more interesting sunset photos.  Click on either photo for enlargement options.

Feel free to take a look at my flickr photo stream if you would like to see more photos.
