Last Day at the Lake
Published May 15th, 2008 in Journal, Jeff's PhotographsTomorrow morning I’ll be leaving the cottage and beginning my journey back to the Lone Star State. Ugh…
It’s not that I don’t want to go home. I just don’t want to leave. The weather is cool but getting warmer, trees are beginning to show signs of blooming, and fishing season just started.
And then there’s tonight. An insanely beautiful sunset ended a mostly cloudy day. Figures… I already packed my tripod. I thought I could snap some decent hand-held shots. I was wrong. So many beautiful shades of red and orange and purple made the sky glow and the water dance. And my tripod was in my truck…
That sunset will never happen again. I’ll never see another sunset quite like it. It was absolutely magical. As it ended, the sky resonated with orange, the lake was like glass, and a loon paddled its way across the shimmering water. It was a perfect end to a fantastic trip.

What route are you taking back to Texas?
