Isn’t Life Strange?

I’d like to offer a quick recommendation to all music fans, especially those who may be old enough to remember the glory days of the band, Journey.

Released in 2006, Journey Live in Houston 1981: The Escape Tour (MP3 Download) (DVD) captures the band at the pinnacle of their career.

This set, recorded live at The Summit, is particularly enjoyable if you enjoy a fast-paced, hard-hitting performance that never holds anything back.  Very few vocalists at the time could match Steve Perry’s energy or his range and this recording is Perry at his very best.  Neal Schon’s guitar work is outstanding as well.  The sound quality and balance is generally very good throughout the album. 

Though I have never counted Journey as one of my favorite bands, I cannot recommend this collection enough.  This recording is twenty-seven years old.  Nonetheless, time has been kind to Journey and their songs.  Nothing here sounds old, dated, or stale.  In fact it is one of the most exciting live performances I have ever heard. 

Get it.  Get it now, turn up the volume, and be blown away by one of the best live rock performances you will ever hear.
