Hurricane Ike Update #9
Published September 13th, 2008 in JournalWell what do you know! I actually CAN sleep through a hurricane!
At about 1 AM I decided to turn off all the lights and head for bed to see what TiVo had waiting for me. I ended up falling asleep and awoke to discover that we lost power - I’m guessing at sometime around 2 AM or so.
It was a restless night and I was awakened a few times by noise from the wind and by debris hitting the building. I awoke for good about an hour ago. We’re experiencing heavy downpours and gusty conditions. The worst of it has passed us and right now the eye of the storm is somewhere northeast of Conroe - a town about 10 miles north of here.
I don’t know when power will return but hope I can find out some news about that sometime today. I have a small, battery-powered TV/radio that I will occasionally turn on and maybe I’ll learn some more as the day progresses.
We weathered the storm right here very well though. I’m actually a little glad I stayed to witness this - even though I slept through most of it!
