Adventures in Walt’s World, Part 5
Published December 4th, 2008 in Journal, Jeff's Photographs, DisneyWhat a great day!
After yesterday’s uneventful day and disappointing dinner, I was looking for some of that famous Disney magic to work today.
I had a breakfast reservation at Boma, a buffet restaurant at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. My favorite part of the meal was a very tasty house juice. The waitress told me it contained orange, passion, and guava juices. After breakfast, I went to explore the Animal Kingdom.
The Animal Kingdom is a park I once called “my least favorite” of the four Walt Disney World theme parks. I’ll need to reconsider that statement after today. In fact, I now have a new favorite attraction - Expedition Everest. Since the single rider line was only a ten minute wait, I rode it twice.
In keeping with my mission to try something new each day while I am here, I also saw “Finding Nemo, The Musical”, a stage show featuring live actors with puppets. It follows the same story as the movie and includes some great musical numbers. My particular favorite was the show-stopper sung by Crush. The acting and singing was top-quality, and the puppets were amazing.
While I was there, I also went on the safari and walked through some of the other animal exhibits.
For dinner, I went to the top of the Contemporary Resort to dine at the California Grill. I did not have a reservation but was able to sit at the bar. Unlike last night, everything this evening was fantastic. I enjoyed a Triple Cheese Brick Oven Flatbread as an appetizer, then chose the Pan-Roasted Grouper for dinner. I also decided to get a desert tonight — “The Original” - The California Grill’s legendary butterscotch creme brulee with a duo of banana cakes, and caramelized bananas. Wowzers!
After dinner, I walked outside to an observation deck and was treated to a spectacular nighttime view of the Magic Kingdom.
Here are a couple of photos from today’s adventure. You can see more here.
