The Weather Is Here

Cloudy? Check.
Dreary? Check.
Cold? Check.
Salt and grime-coated vehicle? Check.
Incoming storm of unknown and questionable precipitation? Check.
Growing disbelief in the existence of the sun? Check.
I must be in Central Illinois!
I have to admit that I do miss living in a part of the country that enjoys four distinct seasons. In Houston, we have Summer, Second Summer, and then about three or four months of something else. We don’t regularly get to see the wondrous colors of Autumn or the beauty of falling snow on the gulf coast. That’s not necessarily a bad thing unless you happen to have an aversion to warmth and sunshine - and if you do, you’re weird.
Anyway - Here I am, back at home watching the sky and waiting for what could be an inch of ice to coat pretty much anything and everything not under a roof. I’m expecting to see fallen branches, damaged trees, downed power lines, and news coverage of the event, complete with video of cars sliding off the roads and “man on the street” interviews with people who haven’t enough sense to stay at home.
It could be an entertaining couple of days.
